This book, which has arrived - remaindered from the Public Library of some hole-in-the-wall town in Virginia, where it was marked DISCARD, looks like a serious, if somewhat ponderous academic treatment of Chinese painters, arranged chronologically and treated on an artist-by-artist basis. So it will form a nice reference work. The many prints are a large scale, but nearly all are in black-and-white.They are well labelled, however, and so should be searchable on the internet. But as a warning, after looking at Ma Yüan's beautiful pictures on the internet the other day (and posting some of them on GR's), and then seeking to look at the equally marvelous pictures of his equally famous son, Ma Lin - this is what turned up:
