Merit and Responsibility a Study in Greek Values (Midway Reprint Ser)

Merit And Responsibility: A Study In Greek Values - Arthur W.H. Adkins, Authur W. H. Adkins This is as thorough and scholarly and influential an account of the Greek moral universe - a universe marked by 'shame-culture' - as there is. There are lots of footnotes and citations of classical texts (in translation). Occasionally, Adkins can be over-subtle, but it is a very important book.
