The Confederate Nation, 1861-1865 - Emory M. Thomas A fairly good, if rapid survey of the rise and fall of Confederate nationalism - marred by the author's enthusiasm for his subject(s). I was interested in this book because of the general theme of revolutionary nationalism that is developed. This next book, which I have not yet read, looks to be deeper and subtler:
